CGIタイプのウェブプロキシの紹介です。

ひとくちに言えばWeb上で使える「プロキシ」です。
まずプロキシ(Proxy)とは日本語でいう「代理」の意味で、目的地へ自分の代わりにアクセスしてくれます。
プロキシは略語（隠語）として串と呼ぶこともあります。
簡単に説明すると利点は以下の通りです。
内部ネットワークへの不正アクセスを遮断
→ プロキシサーバが仲介点になってくれるので、セキュリティアップ
一度表示したページをサーバ側でキャッシュとして溜め込む
→ 次回から高速アクセスが可能となり、トラフィック軽減に役立ちます。
次にウェブプロキシの説明をします。プロキシサーバの意味がわかれば簡単に理解できます。
Perlなどの言語で作られたプログラム（もちろんフリーウェア）をWebサーバに設置、
そこにアクセスして利用することであなたの代わりにプロキシサーバとして代理アクセスを行い、
Webページを持ってきてくれます。
ウェブプロキシ(WebProxy)はこんな時に便利
学校や会社等でファイアーウォールソフトなどの接続制限を回避
「URLアドレスが一致しているか」の規制であれば、ウェブプロキシが代理アクセスでページを持ってくるので
結果的に閲覧できるようになります。
Webサイトの掲示板などでプロバイダ規制がかかっていて書き込めない場合、ネット上の名札である
「IPアドレス」や「ホストアドレス」が、プロキシ化したウェブサーバのものになるので書き込めるようになります。
アクセス解析などに自分のアクセスが記録されるのがなんだか嫌な時、これも同様に、
リモートホストなどの環境変数が、全てプロキシ化したウェブサーバのものになるので安心です。
